Senior Lecturer Dr. Lisa Parkes’ German 118 (German Drama and Theater) presented two performances of *Die Dreigroschenoper* on April 24 and 25, in the Cabot House Theater. In the first half of the course, students study a short selection of German plays, one of which they select to perform in the second half of the course, as their final project; students prepare and perform the play, which is directed by Dr. Parkes. In addition to performing on stage, students work on other aspects of the production, including costumes, set, and program.

*Die Dreigroschenoper* (known in English as *The Threepenny Opera*) is a 1928 German "play with music" by Bertolt Brecht, with music by Kurt Weill; the production consequently included a live instrumental ensemble and required singing actors. Students rose to the challenge by moving between roles as actors, singers, and instrumentalists throughout the production.
